CT
Computed tomography (CT) uses X-rays to produce detailed cross-sectional images of the body. The X-ray tube rotates around the patient. In some cases, an iodine-containing contrast agent is administered, which can cause a brief feeling of warmth. For good image quality, it is important to remain still and follow breathing commands. We have the latest generation of CT equipment (photon CT) to enable an optimal and fast examination with a particularly low radiation dose.
Special examination – cardiac CT
- Photon-counting CT stands out due to its extremely high spatial resolution combined with a significantly lower radiation dose.
- This allows for a precise assessment of the coronary arteries as well as a detailed characterization of vascular deposits.
- Stents and bypass grafts can also be evaluated with very high accuracy.
- Based on this examination, it can be decided whether a further cardiac catheterization is necessary or not.
Special Examination – Temporal Bone CT
- The ossicles of the middle ear are visualized with extremely high spatial resolution.
- The individual ossicles as well as the inner ear can be depicted much more clearly than previously possible.
- This enables a more precise diagnosis of conductive hearing disorders (e.g. otosclerosis).

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
What do I need to consider before the examination?
How does the examination work?
The examination takes place with the patient lying down, while the CT is running the patient is alone in the room, the assistant monitors the patient during this time and can communicate with the patient via intercom.
We have a CT scanner that gives the patient plenty of space. Our rooms are bright and friendly.
Necessary documents
Please bring a blood report (kidney and thyroid values) not older than 3 months. Ideally, you should also bring relevant previous findings and images with you to the examination.
What do I have to consider in the event of pregnancy?
I have an allergy to contrast media, what should I do?
If you have a known allergy to contrast media containing iodine, please inform the registration desk when making your appointment. A contrast agent is not required for every examination and in some cases the examination can still be carried out with prophylaxis.
